According to many hobby painters, covering surfaces is the most boring job. Especially there is a tendency to “forget” about covering surfaces when painting facades because there is not much to say about paint splashes that get on the lawn.

When painting, it must be taken into account that there are parts of the house on the outside of the house that does not want to be painted and from which it is difficult to remove the paint.

Windows with frames should be covered when painting whips and edging and when painting plinth walls.

Today, protective films are available with adhesive tape on edge for fixing the film.

Strong cardboard is also suitable for covering surfaces. Work safety must not be forgotten when painting. The ladder must not be painted – proper scaffolding is required. Scaffolding can also be built yourself, but rental scaffolding is easy to assemble and move from one place to another.

When painting, do not make long, ploughing movements and check that your position is strong. Even in hot sunny weather, the painter cannot last long on scaffolding.

When the hot summer comes, it is worth remembering that the ripening times of raspberries can still be painted until you wait for the morning sauce to dry out.

After washing the exterior, you can wait another week before you start painting. Cloudy and dry weather is suitable for painting – there does not have to be strong sunshine and heat; nor shall it rain. There is also no point in painting surfaces with direct sunlight because the paint tends to dry out too quickly and it is also more inconvenient to paint during a hot day.

Initially, the clean wood surfaces are primed, and the primer is allowed to dry completely, after which the main painting can be started.

As a precaution, the brush tends to take as little paint as possible so that it does not start to spray, but this way, the table cannot be properly painted. It is important that one table can be covered from one end to the other with one brushstroke – this way, the paint mark is evenly covered.

Experts recommend diluting the paint by 5-10% so that the brush moves from one end of the table to the other when painting on a slippery table. This avoids joints when lifting the brush.
